About
JustNashville is written by Jay Voorhees, a United Methodist pastor and Nashvillian since 1970. The Rev. Voorhees is a 1978 graduate of Hillwood High School in West Nashville, and has a B.A. from Western Kentucky University and and Master of Divinity degree from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. He currently serves as a pastor of a congregation in the Antioch area, and has been a leader in organizing that community to address issues of decline and self-image. Rev. Voorhees coordinated the United Methodist response to the lottery amendment, and mobilized persons in the faith community against the English Only amendment considered by Nashvillians in 2009. He is currently involved in advocacy for the Metro Nashville General Hospital as well as coordinating the Southeast Easter Event, which had over 1,500 participants in 2008. He is married to the Rev. Kay Hereford Voorhees, and has two daughters who attend Metro Public Schools.
This blog reflects solely the opinions of Rev. Voorhees and do not reflect the beliefs of the United Methodist Church, the congregation he serves, or any other entity that he works with.
